Igneous and metamorphic petrology (7) Copper mineralization in the Footwall Complex, Strathcona Mine, Sudbury, Ontario. palladium, iridium, and gold among coexisting minerals from the deep ore zone, Strathcona Mine, Sudbury, Ontario. Journal: Economic Geology. Publisher: Society of Economic Geologists. Published: 01 November Thesis Area The location of the thesis area is shown in figure 1. It covers 70 km2 of the western North Cascade Mountains of Washington. The western end of the area lies on the Sauk River opposite the town of Darrington. The area extends eastward to the boundary between R. 10 E. and R. 11 E. The Sauk River borders the area on the west.
Geology: Chalcocite, chalcopyrite, and native copper occur in fissurefilling vein breccias in Keweenawan basalts that overlie a granite complex. Economic Features: In the old mine area, , tons, averaging l.J.7% Cu within a length of feet, and to a depth of . “I have used the oral pathology biopsy service at StrataDx for five years now. Footwall Breccia (Strathcona Mine area); pen for scale. Photo Clastic Sudbury Breccia showing flow surfaces that are parallel to dike walls and which mould around clasts (Kelly Lake). Photograph of Footwall Breccia; pen for scale (Strathcona mine area). As Footwall Breccia occurs mainly in the North and East Ranges, where the exposed crustal level is up to 5 km higher than the South Range, Dressler (a) suggested that Footwall Breccia formed along the upper parts of the Sudbury crater by: Porphyritic rhyolite sills form an important component of the footwall of the Wolverine volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposit, Yukon, Canada, and occur proximal to mineralization in the immediate deposit area (Wolverine/Lynx zone) and at similar stratigraphic Cited by: Greenman L () The petrology of the footwall breccias in the vicinity of the Strathcona Mine, Levack, Ontario.

T An in-depth study of a m interval within the Lost Burro Formation, exposed in Death Valley National Park, California, was undertaken in order to ascertain whether or not the banding within the unit represents systematic changes in the depositional environments.
In the course of this study, 57 thin sections were made and examined, resulting in the identification of six Standard Microfacies. The Strathcona Mine is located at the east end of the sulphide-rich contact area of the North Range in a zone of thickened sublayer, the Strathcona Embayment (Coats and Snajdr, ).
The `Copper' and `Deep Copper' zones comprise chalcopyrite-rich veins that extend into footwall units at approximately and m from the contact, respectively. Regional geologic map of the area surrounding the Apollo 14 landing site _____ _ 2.

Geol. v97 pp Before being deposited, sediment was formed by weathering and erosion in a source area, and then transported to the place of deposition by water, wind, mass movement or glaciers.
Bedding Sedimentary rocks are deposited in layers as strata, forming a structure called. The Whistle offset dike is a radial dike linked to the ca. Ma Sudbury Igneous Complex (SIC) in Sudbury, Ontario. It is linked through the funnel-shaped Whistle embayment which formed as a depression along the floor of a superheated impact melt sheet represented by the present-day SIC.

The hydrothermal system generated by the Sudbury impact remobilized some of the metals and redeposited them in breccias and fractures and may have contributed to the formation of Cu‐precious metal‐enriched ore bodies in the footwall [e.g., Farrow and Watkinson, ; Molnár et al., ].
